China's aggie group to invest $5 billion in hybrid corn and sorghum production
   
     
  Jilin Fuhua Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. of Changchun City in China, is investing $5 billion in the Philippines for the production of hybrid corn and hybrid sorghum and construction of farm infrastructures.

The Fuhua Group, headed by its chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Liu Ye, sealed the agreement with Henry Lim, chairman and CEO of SL Agritech Corp., the country’s leading hybrid rice seeds producer.

The signing was witnessed by Agriculture Secretary Domingo F. Panganiban, Rep. Edwin Uy, Minister
Du Quinglin of the China Ministry of Agriculture, Chinese Ambassador Li Jinjun, John Tan of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Jilin Vice Governor Yang Qing Cai,

Under the agreement, the Fuhua Group will finance hybrid corn and sorghum production in the country and construct infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges. It will also build corn processing plant that will produce 1.76 million metric tons (MT) of milky starch, 600,000 MT of ethanol, 1.77 million
MT of fiber feed, 62,200 MT corn protein, 39,400
MT of corn oil; and 260,000 MT of amino acid.
   
   
  An agricultural processing industrial park will also be built which will include a feed mill with a 200,
000 MT capacity for hog, chicken, and cattle feed processing. A brewery, with a capacity of 100,000
MT and a crispy food factory which will have a 50,000 MT processing capacity will likewise be constructed.
A cattle raising base will have a production capacity of 100,000 heads and young cattle capacity of 33,000 heads as part of an animal product processing garden. This is tied up with a slaughtering
plant that has a 100,000 head capacity capable of producing high-quality and midrange beef, cattle bone, and skin.
